Girlsonbikes – sandwiched between a porn site with lots of girls but no bikes, and a motorcycle site featuring scantily clad women straddling big motorbikes they probably do not ride. So why did I chose this url? Partially because “females on bikes” will just not roll off the tongue.

But mostly because every woman on a bike has a girl inside – a girl that was once 7, or 9, or 12 the first time she rode. Outward appearances change, but we carry that carefree girl soul somewhere inside of us, and she is nurtured each time we take our bikes for a ride.

My heroines are the women who rode more than 100 years ago – the Louise Armaindos and Dottie Farnsworths – when it was harder to ride, the social approbrium was higher, and the outfits were ridiculous (how much better my bellbottoms and patent-leather boots are is for you to decide!). A lot of those status-quo-busting females will be featured here. But also the women I see riding every day.

I want cycling to be normal in every U.S. city, something every woman can do. That’s why I do this.
